Acknowledgement
This educational scholarship and research would not have been possible without the exceptional support of my mentor, Dr. Denyse Richardson. Her dedication, knowledge and attention to detail have been an inspiration and kept my work on track from my first idea of a Spiral Concussion Curriculum to the final delivery of this competency acquisition study with a scholarly approach. Dr. Nicolas Fernandez, my research mentor from the University of Montreal, moulds my research idea and takes it to the next level. Additionally, I would like to provide a heartfelt thank you to:
- All the teachers, mentors, my program director of Health Practitioner Teacher Education Program, Master of Science, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, Department of Family & Community Medicine (DFCM), University of Toronto
- Dr. Aisha Husain, my wonderful family medicine colleague, for supporting me throughout this learning journey and volunteering her time on this passion project
- Ms. Stephanie McFarland, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Occupational Therapist, for supporting the pediatric portion of the curriculum
- All my learners' outstanding volunteering of their time and skills
I am also grateful for the insightful feedback and advice offered by all 14 sites of DFCM (University of Toronto) residents, faculty members, residency program directors, administrators and education scientists. The generosity and expertise of one and all have improved this study in innumerable ways. Lastly, I thank Hull Ellis Concussion Clinic, University Health Network, Canadian Concussion Clinic, Toronto Western Hospital, and University Health Network for providing clinic spaces to support resident learning. This is not a comprehensive list of acknowledgements, as this project continues to build its capacity and create new collaborations. Sincerely thank you all for your kindness and support on this educational scholarship!
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Alice Kam, MD, MScCH (HPTE), FRCPC
